Meet Robert, our upholsterer
Our upholsterer Robert, started his five-year apprenticeship at just 15 years old, while also working as a volunteer fireman.
When the bell rang, he would down tools and run through the streets to the fire station.
His boss back then, Mr Jones, insisted that all elements of a job should be to the highest standard. Even the stuff that nobody would ever see, the inside stitching and tacking should be as well done and highly finished as the outside braid on the completed piece of furniture.
Five years later, he gave up the firefighting and started his own upholstery business.
It’s these high standards and attention to detail that we still hold dear today. It’s these values that make us who we are. Robert still uses these traditional upholstery techniques today; he specialises in antique furniture but is equally at home with mid-century modern and contemporary pieces.
